Linearity is like being imprisoned...
You see all the goodness that could be explored in many games nowadays, but some games still insist that you only see them. exploring is off limits... :nonono:

k, its official, this game blows.

of all the final fantasy games, you get to the end boss and are wiped out in the first 30 seconds, even when you think that your characters are supreme badasses.

i beat the final boss first try. the end scene is visually awesome though. I doubt i will even try to finish up the other 15 or so quests i have left.

i would say that this is by far the worst FF ever for gameplay. if it werent for the battle system being the only strategic variation this game would be considered an interactive movie rather than a game.

I liked this game and don't care about the linearity because I hate those little minigames and shit like that, the only thing that does piss me off is the lack of towns and the annoying voice acting, Sazh is pretty awesome though.

I think the best thing they could of done is put in more minor key music and a darker story line, this is why people liked FF7 so much, which was mostly linear other than those crap minigames that you played maybe 3 or 4 times and the fact you could revisit towns although i never did plus all the annoying running around trying to figure out what the game wants you to do.

All in all the linearity wasn't an issue for me but the game needs a better, less cheesey storyline and more minor key music. Maybe Versus 13 will deliver.

I think that's why FF13 was made the way it was. From what I've heard Squenix was trying to make the game more "western" since people complained about all the running around.

I'm glad that the old battle system from FF7 etc is gone. I hated those fucking random battles, take 3 steps battle, take 3 steps battle etc.

I just finished my finals yesterday, so I ca resume the game. I'm only 25 hours in, just defeated the emperor guy and I'm half way into the ark level.

just got into grand pulse and this feels like a whole new game all the sudden.  the graphics r really shining here, open areas that feel almost to open lol.  and the battles r getting pretty insane

i'm 4 hours in and i'm pretty impressed. with all the bad reviews i wasn't expecting to like it much, but so far it's pretty good, and i love the battle system. granted some of the story and voice over is a bit cheesy, but all the FF's besides the classics are a bit like that.

so far so good :thumbup:

10 hours is nothing, it tasks about 25 hours just to get past the tutorials

yah i can see how some might not have the time for it i guess, i think the story is pretty good tho, it was what got me through those hours, and once you do then it really starts to feel like a game.  The combat system really starts to make sense because the battles actually get hard, and with the guide the crafting system makes sense.  even gives tips on how to make some quick cash.  The upgrading becomes pretty important.

But im serious once you get to chapter 11 your like holly shit where was this at before, earlier on i thought the monster graphics were pathetic compared to everything else...well chapter 11 changed my mind quick on that.

the bottom line tho is the people getting turned off early in the game are missing out big time because the game you were hoping for is there, its just latter on that you see it.  Then again im still in chapter 11, maybe all the awe wears off fast im not sure

All I have to say is, too many people have A.D.D. these days. Thus, the excess of games that take 3 hours to beat and they get called "THE BEST GAME EVER!!", such as MW2, which sucked ass btw.

well if you didn't understand it then how can you say he was alluding to anything.  He was making a point.  But since you want clarification then ill clarify it for you then, no.

and the reason i say your plucking feathers is for the shear fact that you had to ask.  its clear as day that he was making a general statement, whether it was related to FF players or not really doesn't change the point all that much anyway does it...so what would your next post have been about i wonder...to knit pick about how not all people would have ADD...well duh thats obvious too...
