Well, we got another sunny weekend in the PNW and a friend and I had to take advantage of it and bag a couple peaks... We did a quick, close trip up Guye Peak in the Snoqualmie pass area friday and headed up the Mountain Loop highway the next morning to do Vesper Peak. My first time in the area before, it was a really great trip...
We were able to drive all the way to the summer trailhead, which is pretty unheard of for this time of year. Talked to a skier there who was also heading up to get some turns in, he said the earliest he'd been able to get there before was mid june. skies were clear, it was sunny and warm, wind was light and views were amazing... today it was snowing a little all the way down here in the puget sound, heh. weird weather, hopefully it doesn't snow too much more, I'm stoked for spring and more days like this ... here are some pics, enjoy

Thanks . No, I haven't picked up a pair of crampons yet. I did use my kahtoola microspikes though. going up was no problem, but crampons would've helped on the steep climb down from headlee pass, my friend had his on and flew right down, I had to take my time... snow was pretty soft due to the warm temps so kicking steps in wasn't a problem though...

Theres actually a technical term for that....its a standing glissade.
And yes, I also do it when I have the chance. Not only can it save tons of time and energy on a descent, but its a lot of fucking fun also!
