Nice blooms ferrel_human!

I went out in the garden in search of flowers and I'm sad to say I have none at the moment, unless you want some scruffy looking roses.

Looks great,,.
Shame the flowers don't last too long but they're spectacular when they're out.

I need to give mine more light, they don't flower very well in a dull position.

I can't remember how old, a fair few years. The one before got too heavy and started snapping near the base, they get quite brittle at the joints.

Colors are purples/pinks/yellows/whites i think.
One of mine has shorter flowers than the other.

I've never seen a seed pod on them and they've been in the family for as long as i can remember, can't say i've experimented tho..

Yeah they root very easily.

Just cut and stick in the dirt is all I do with them.

Some info I found interesting:

Quote:

The absolute true Christmas cactus that Grandma grew is Schlumbergera x buckleyi. It has rounded leaf segments and tends to bloom in December. The cacti you see offered in the Big Box Stores around this time of year are sold as Christmas cactus but they are actually Schlumbergera x truncata, commonly called Thanksgiving cactus. It has "crab claw" type stem segments and tends to bloom about a month before buckleyi. Its all a marketing thing to sell only truncatas as Christmas cactus when the true Christmas cactus is never offered anymore. People don't want to wait until Christmas to buy, and the name Christmas cactus sells better than Thanksgiving cactus.

I actually have one of both and will take pictures for you all to see the difference sometime.

The x buckleyi I have is much smaller, but that's because it was a cutting given to me by a friend only a year ago.
