Can Cobweb be distinguished from early Mycelium??
    #1215449 - 01/13/03 07:20 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

My casing has some very white patches...these were the first areas to poke through the casing layer. Now I'm noticing some greyish wispy things poking through. It's hard to see, but the stands sort of look the same as mycelium. Could these just be early mycelium poking through...which would eventually turn into more white patches? I was under the impression that cobweb mold spread incredibly fast, and these greyish patches don't seem to be growing all that quickly.

Nope...didn't patch as I didn't want to risk contamination. I don't really care about even pinning just so long as mushrooms grow.

Yep...I'm in Ontario...I take it you are?

I haven't been misting it at all. The casing is a medium sized lasagna pan inside a rubbermaid container about 2 feet long by 1 foot wide by 1 foot high. The casing is alone in there, but I've put two small bowls of perlite. When I open it, the roof of the terrarium is wet, but not dripping. Would you recommend ditching the perlite and letting the casing sit by itself? It's been getting 3 air exchanges a day and about 2 hours of 25 W blue light.

Thanks
Viking

Must have missed that...thanks Anno.

Upon reviewing those photos I'm pretty sure I have healthy mycelium
