So can you get in trouble w/ the law for being on shrooms but having none on you?

Me and a group of my friends have plans to go see Alice in Wonderland tomorrow night and 2-3 of us will be taking shrooms and two will be coming and maybe smoking a little bit. I just want to make sure I know my rights if I an encounter with police were to occur. I'm sure my pupil will be huge, as they always are, but I feel like I will be comfortable enough to control my behavior as to not draw unnecessary attention. Hopefully all of my friends doing it will be good, I think they can handle it.
So what exactly could they do if they suspect us to be under the influence of shrooms or any illegal drug? We will plan to take only what we know we will consume with and do so before going into the theatre. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Just try not to attract too much attention to yourselves. But I get the feeling you guys won't be the only ones to be wasted at that movie.

It is illegal to be on drugs in most places, but those are local laws that vary a lot.
Sometimes sober people act goofy and get arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Since you aren't driving they don't test you, they just have a "drug recognition officer" testify that you were messed up. It can be a difficult charge to beat.
If you go see a movie and go home, there shouldn't be any cops around to give you any trouble.
There are other reasons than drugs that people would have mydriasis, such as brain damage or sexual arousal.
Having dilated pupils alone isn't usually enough to get you arrested unless you are driving. Just don't be an asshole and everything will be fine.
Make sure you have a designated driver.
If you do encounter police, never admit to being on drugs, even if "they can tell". Make sure your friends know never to admit anything either.
I am not convinced that movie would be very good on psychedelics, if avatar is still playing I'd see that instead. But you probably already did.

if you're not a typical nub acting like a stoned fool in public why would you have any problems. if cops suspect something tell them you had a few beers. if you drive on mushrooms ur a moron and deserve prison

Telling them that you had a few beers wouldn't be any different, legally, from telling them that you ate psilocybin mushrooms.
Don't admit to public intoxication.
In many places, they charge you with public intoxication if you are drunk enough to admit it.
Its usually best to not admit anything. There is nothing illegal about being mentally retarded, if you don't admit anything they'll have to come to that conclusion.

I wouldn't say that would be hard to beat. Public intoxication laws are pretty weak generally since they can't test you.
It all depends how you behave. If the cops can testify you were falling down, talking gibberish, couldn't properly identify yourself, etc. then they have a case.
Unless you somehow create a major problem they won't take bullshit to court.
If you were too drunk to stand then just sit down. It's simple behavior solutions like that that make the cops pretty powerless to do anything. Just don't answer anything but your name and address. Then they can't say shit like "the suspect was incoherent".
If you're screwed up just tell them you're going to sit here in silence as you're fine but don't feel well. There's not much they can say to that.
I've actually talked to the cops several times all fucked up on one thing or another. Sometimes I was drunk and tripping balls. When I knew I wouldn't make any sense I just didn't say shit. When in doubt keep your mouth shut.
I remember them being especially shitty one time, I think they were pissed I was drunk and uncooperative. To me they were just "Yap, yap, yap", angry and accusatory, looking like child beating pedophiles. I just shrugged and said "take me in if you must, otherwise be gone".
Cops are used to that attitude, they see it a lot. And it shuts them down. They're used to the shrug with nothing to say.
Just remember KISS. The less you say the less you can do. I've seen a lot of people fucked because they rambled on for no reason. Too many people worry too much. All you have to do is give them a disapproving/mean look and then shrug. They know what it means.
It means take me in or leave me alone, you're done with me either way; since I deem it beneath me to even speak to you further I prefer to skip straight to the next person, knowing it's in my best interest either way.

FF has excellent advice as usual.
It's also been my experience that you *usually* have to be a major dick for cops to even bother you about being intoxicated in public (driving wildly, stumbling all over the side walk, screaming at trees and so on).
