Shakti. The Power aspect of God, according to classical Hinduism. Not the Whole picture. Definately not the God of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

You would do well to reframe God as 'Thou,' rather than 'It' in Buber's terms. 'Who God Is' is far more than 'What God Is.' God is at least personal, and then, utterly transcends personality. God is not impersonal - we are personal - and we did not originate from That which is less than us, but from One Who is Infinitely Beyond our comprehension.

If God utterly transcends personality and is infinitely beyond our comprehension, why get caught up in individual, subjective perceptions of Who/What He/She Is?

God ... well that is a hard word to sum up. God is neither male or female, light nor dark, evil or good. As one person put it god just "is" I like to personify god as I am sure most do. (by the way I am not a relgious person so none of this is bias. ) I like to see god as a woman because being a woman it is more peronal and in touch with my own spirit. I see god as a creator and we are ment to take on the image of this great creator. God is like light. Everywhere, time does not apply, space has no meaning... I guess this is the best way I can put this...

You got that right! Good post by the way, I hope to see you around here more often.

If you look at my 3rd post I try to explain that existence is made up of both 'The Power' and 'The Void'. It is not just either one... not just male, or female. Light, or dark.
To attempt to clarify, I will say that imperfection is the architect of evolution. 'The Void' limits 'The Power' so that it may constantly grow. This constant dissonance between these 2 "forces" is what we call existence.

Do all of you folks really think this controversy over language using ambiguous words that mean different things to different people is an effective way to describe God?
I know of no better way to share God then to instruct one to just go out and find a patch of woods (anything really) and just let the mind chatter be taken over by your senses. If the chatter honestly subsides God will be seen, heard, felt, smelled, and tasted (if you so desire ). The sensuous world we live in without a doubt defeats our individual ability in expressing God.

It seems to me that you are describing a very sensual experience.Kind of hard to escape sensuality.Maybe I misunderstand what you are saying.I agree totally that an understanding of God is hard to relate!!!

gGod is. The material world is simply the part of Heaven that we can touch.

I am trying to relate that as real as we can get is the sensuous and if god is "the ultimate real" than our world of senses is as close as we can to god. It sounds like you think i am over emphasizing the important of the sensuous but i think everyone can become closer to god by getting more in touch with the only world around them. Therefore i don't think the sensuous can be downplayed.

I do not mean to sound to "christian" here, but I believe that our sensuality can and usually does interfere with our spiritual search and understanding. The only purpose I can see for this existance is faith. Love is noble and important but has no spiritual implications other than creating an environment that is peaceful and conducive to faith and spirituality.Through faith we become true creators! I believe the created is seperate from the creator! And getting to know the created is not the same as getting to know the creator.Through faith you understand God.Through experience you understand the world around you. That is not to say that God cannot be seen and felt in the natural world.

Because God does have a 'face,' a personality, a Logos through which we are created and can remain in comm[union]. To forget this is the treat God as an 'object,' when [S]He is THE Subject - the Infinite "I AM."
We are as God's thoughts, to use a comparison with ourselves and the relativity of what we consider to be real. We can conceive thoughts, and bring them into physical existence. Not all at once, as say, a time machine. But lasers, nuclear fission/fusion, etc. were ideas long before we were capable of manifesting them, because we are caught in time, and accrue knowledge in time. God is the Creator of Existence, which is a set that contains everything that we can conceive and bring to manifestation.
Aside from God as Creator, but as Savior - the aspect which both guides and transmutes us so that we do not merely perish meaninglessly in the immensity of Creation - God can be communed with, and we will never reach the zenith of human development if this axis, this line of communication is not established. Of course, I am approaching this as a Theist, and God as Pure Being from which I derive my beinghood. For me, no matter how fascinating the metaphysics of Buddhism gets, the infinite complexity of creation, of a human body alone, points to Intelligent Design, to Purpose. I want to Know the Designer, not merely liberation from the cycle of recycled existence.
