mushrooms in my backyard!

Hello i found these mushrooms growing near my toolshed in my back yard

i have no idea what genus/species they are. can someone help?

You should read this post at the top of the forum to help you give a better description. I'll take a guess on what they are, but you should go ahead and try writing a description anyway, to help us confirm the ID. Also, writing a description helps you to know what things you should observe for identification.

Based on the photo I would guess that you've got some old, rotten Honey Mushrooms (Armillaria mellea). If they are then they should have a white spore print.

Honey Mushrooms are edible when young and fresh, but those aren't. I hope you weren't thinking of eating them. Eating those will probably get you an evening in the emergency room.
