Gravity Vortex bong

Anybody have any experience with the gravity vortex bong? I'm considering getting one but I've never used one.

The way it works is the water stays in the upper half of the tube, and then you flip a switch while lighting the bowl and as the water oozes from the top section to the bottom, it sucks all the smoke out of the bowl.

I can do that with a milk jug and my sink. Probably a hell of a lot cheaper.

Can't argue that. I just have store credit at a smoke shop and already own a bong... so I don't know what else to get. This looked interesting.

You can make these really easily, why spend money? I used to smoke out of these all the time when I was younger; they can be made with household supplies in 5 min.
1. Take a water bottle and cut the bottom off (melting a hole with a lighter to use as a starting point helps). 2. Find a bottle cap that screws on, but also has a flip top. Deer Park bottles work great. 3. Take a wrench socket that has a hole going all the way through and push it through the bottle cap. It will get stuck at the middle point because the socket widens. You can put a screen in the wrench head (optional). 4. Fill a container large enough to hold the entire water bottle with water. 5. Pack the top of the wrench socket with weed. 6. Put the water bottle in the larger container and then screw on the cap. 7. Apply a lighter to the weed while slowly pulling the bottle out of the water; downward suction will pull all of the smoke into the bottle. When you have beat the bowl, unscrew the cap, put your mouth up to it and then push the bottle back into the water while sucking (this shoots the smoke into your lungs). Three bowls gets you absolutely stoned (assuming you have good weed) and takes like .2 grams.
This whole process including smoking is like a 10 minute thing from scratch if you already have a proper bottle cap, container and wrench sockets. The cap can be reused and the rest can be reasembled in like 2 min. Its kind of like smoking out of an apple or a can since its very middle-schoolerish, but unlike homemade bongs vs real bongs, there isn't really a quality difference between this and what you are planning on buying except that yours looks nicer.

It's not really a proper bong is it. The smoke isn't water filtered... so basically it's a giant chamber of unfiltered stale smoke?
Yuck.
How much do they cost? Get a vaporizer instead or at the very least a nice EHLE or something.

I've used my friends before. The bowl wasn't super clean though, so it took forever. I found it a pain in the ass to be honest. It is cool though.
And Chubby, it is filtered there's a big downstem, or else it would be impossible to flip upside down to reset.

Get a vaporizer if you have store credit. The Vortex is cool as a novelty but you can easily make a diesel GB with stuff from home, no reason to spend money on it. It works fine and all but there are so many other things I'd buy at a head shop before that.

I saw a video on YouTube a while back. You can make these yourself quite easily, but it looks like these provide very clean and milky hits.

Do they still cost like 100 bucks? If so its a pretty big ripoff considering its all acrylic. The concept of a totally portable gravity bong is attractive for cars and stuff, but you can make your own gravity out of a Sobe bottle for less than 5 bucks and then put some water in a couple of bottles, even catch the water in the bottle to recycle it. Its a cool concept for sure but nowhere near 100 bucks worth.

A head shop in my town is selling them for $250!
I was appalled to see that.

I've used it before, and to be honest its nothing better than a 2 liter and your sink or a bucket. I wouldn't pay money for one of these when I could just use an old soda bottle to achieve the same result.

After watching that video I retract my previous statement and must have one at once.
Sweet novelty piece. Good for parties.
My milk jug and sink though still kill it

Some of you were totally off on this one. It was $60 from a local smoke shop and it hits like a champ!
At first I was a bit disappointed but after I got a screen for it and a much bigger rubber ring (that goes around the downstem), and started grinding up the weed, it's amazing! I found a technique so the downtime between hits is like 5 seconds. It milks the FUCK out of bowls, like 3 or so huge monster hits per bowl. IMO cleaner and nicer.
