I've seen recipes for various teas / hot drinks to steep shrooms in, but I am also of the understanding that shrooms lose potency when exposed to heat. Are mushroom teas pretty weak?

If done correctly you should be able to make a tea that loses little to no potency. I always found that if you want to make a drink from the shrooms make smoothies with lots of Vitamin C based fruits (Oranges, Lemon, Lime) this way you can ensure that no potency is lost. But it is fun to make a large batch of tea and have a more spiritual trip with mant friends injesting the tea.

Nope. Mushroom teas can be very strong.
I guess heat may kill a small amount of psilo's but not in substancial amounts.

Grinding up dried shrooms in a coffee grinder and making smoothies is the way to go. I was really surprised the first time I did this. Less than 30 minutes and I was well on my way. The taste was great and none of the unpleasant taste of tea.

Anyone have a particular good recipe they can link to? Also, and I have looked around for this on the site but can't find that info anyplace - I have two grams, which I intend to consume one way or another. I'm trying to plan the time/setting in advance - how long can I expect the trip to last?

powder into chunky cinnamon applesauce for 100% consumption... 3x tea (barely simmering in dH2O, 2nd time w/lemon juice, 3rd time a hard boil w/cinnamon/ginger/cloves/cardaomom/allspice/whatever)(you can toss marc into the compost heap, or let somebody mix it with applesauce in case some non-water-soluble partion is left in the solids); combine 3 teas & some condensed applejuice for uncle gnrm's yummy psillycider, serve hot or cold...

the boiling temperature probably does little to damage the psilocybin & psilocin molecules... )(100 deg C isn't all that hot...) - more is prolly lost to the "blueing" reaction, and possibly to oxidation & other chemical reactions... the 2 main psychoactive chemicals are not equally soluble in water, and some psilocin may be left in the marc ... the second simmering (w/lemon juice) is an attempt to address this problem; you could also extract into alcohol, but then you have to deal with the alcohol, hehheh... ymmv...
