Black Rye

Some of my rye jars look like the rye is black. The rye seems a little moist and some parts are brown and the some are black and smaller. It looks like it might be contaminated but they is now fuz of myc in the black rye. I will wait to see what happens, but I curious if anyone else ever had this problem.

So how did it turn out because I have the same problem. No rye berries were black during 25% and 50% shakes but when I went to break up to spawn to bulk 5 of my 8 jars had berries that were completely filled with myc but the husks are peeling away and dark black but very dry. Myc growth is very fast and the jars will completely recolonize in less than 2 days.
The black husks spread nowhere but the individual grain, looks burnt even though I know it's not because my moisture content was a little too high. Actually I believe this slowed down the process and required too many shakes as the Brazil strain from Ralphsters wants to colonize very aggressively but my grains were sticking together due to moisture content so I kept shaking to distribute evenly so all grains could colonize.
Currently day 17 from Multispores 2cc per quart jar.
Curious what you think, seen a few have had this problem but no real answers.
My only camera is on my phone and they come out terrible.

Got some pics.
Used Magash Rye prep but used no TIT for incubation. rinse, 24 hr soak, rinse, Tyvek, 60 min pc @ 15psi, innoc in sterile glove box etc all precautions possible were observed.....mask, clean scrubs, gloves cleaned with alchahol, flamed needle etc.
Everything was looking beautiful until final shake.
What do you think, myc is already repairing with no spread of the black husks.
Bad thing is the day before I used on of these quarts to do a grain to grain transfer on 10 quarts of WBS, checked those jars and none of the rye in them show any of these signs, but then again a few days ago none of them showed any signs of this.

It might be dry and bruised... ? You just soaked the grain, you didn't simmer it?

Yes, could be lack of moisture. However those grains do not look particularly dry... How did you prepare your grains? Could be bacteria IMO though I am not 100% sure.

No I simmered for 25 min.
Followed Magash tek to the letter. http://www.shroomery.org/8432/From-syringe-to-print-using-rye But I did have some berries start to explode and it happend very quickly. I know my moisture content was too high as a few days ago I used RR Tek for rye and the berries were much drier and seperate easily without having to shake so much.
Not saying one is better than the other the fault was in my judgement of moisture content.

Yeah, it comes with experience. I don't think that's worth spawning, I'd toss it. But if you feel like it, maybe do a small batch.

Thanks, that's what I thought. If the myc completely over takes this would it make any difference?
I may try to spawn one to coco/verm and see what happens.

Oh, if it were to colonize that would be a good sign. Or if it colonized black, a bad one.
