This is my Proposal. Add Brf/verm substrate to a cake after the first flush, and thus increasing the yield of the 2nd and/or 3rd flushes. The way I was thinking of doing this was using the standard PF tek with the inner resevoir tek. Bring a cake to full colonization and birth it. After the first flush you would need to clean the cake of all Aborts and sporocarps. Then mix up PF tek substrate and fill about 1/2 inch up the bottom of the jar, Sterilize, and let cool. Then put the clean cake into the jar and cover with dry verm. Let the myc start growing into the new substrate and after full colonization birth the cake again for a higher yielding 2nd or 3rd flush.
The Large hole in this is it is VERY open to contaminants and might get the sickness But the question still stands, could you extend the life of a cake in this way? What are your thoughts guys?
