Casing, moisture, and flushes

Alright, lets say I did a casing to grow some type of fungi. It'd be a standard verm casing, right outta the book. Anyways, should I keep the top layer of verm moist? Lets pretend if they aren't ready to be put in a terranium, should I still spray the top layer if its a bit dry? Also, should i keep the top layer moist when moving it to the terranium?

One more thing, how many flushes should I expect to get outta a casing? Should I just spray after a full flush if it seems a bit dry? I know I shouldnt spray when theirs fungi growing...

You can mist while the casing is pinning or while the casing is colonising.
If their are pins formed, just let the moisture evaporate off the mushrooms.
Otherwise just try to maintain a good moist casing layer for best moisture retention and even pinsets.

I would suggest adding coco coir to that casing as dry vermiculite is very difficult to notice.
Adding the coco coir will be a good indicator of casing moisture.

i took a straight verm casing and made verm very wet. i have not added anymore moisture with a bottle or anything, i just put it in my terrarium as soon as i made it and blast my humidifier a few times a day, it is now about 60-70 % colonized. i don't really try to keep it in the dark but it is never exposed to light more than 2 or 3 mins a day, when its fully or 90 % colonized i will give it 1-2 hours of light a day. keep you all posted on my results.
