we had these pale lavender ones that were nice, medium full blooms,
i'm caring for a bunch of bushes in the courtyard area where i live
I was wondering if there's a good practice for taking cuttings and mailing them, because a lot of these bushes are really old and i'd like to take some to give to my mom and my brother.
So if i take a cutting and get it rooted and growing in dirt can i wait till they're dormant and dig them up and mail them? because i remember my mom planting bare root rose stalks because they were cheaper.

Yeah you can mail rose plants, just make sure they're dormant before you do it and have an established root system. Wrap up the roots before you post them and they will be fine. Use semi-hardwood cuttings and take them during the Fall. Dip in a rooting hormone, not mandatory but will increase your strike rate. Put the cuttings in a coarse sand mix or other free draining propagation mix, keep moist and in a few months they should start throwing out roots.

8" terracotta pots, grew to about a meter high. quite bushy too. i'd imagine they'd get much larger in bigger pots.
i'm growing m. verucosa this year

exactly my thoughts.
too bad i don't have another to pollinate it with. the rest are all babies.
i have heard they cross well within there own species. any truth to that?
edit- the species that interbreeds well is ariocarpus not astrophytum.

not enough for anything. use columns of trichs for tripping. esp. bridgesii.
that one i got at a flea market.
i don't water my globulars because they don't seem to like it much. don't know why but they don't. their skins get all wrinkly and stuff. it goes away but i guess they love it hot and dry rather than wet and dry.
although they love the rain.
