Here is an Anadenanthera tree starting to push some flower buds, really excited for this one.

About 3-4" across. Here's a shot for length perspective too.

Last year I was out of town working and missed the main bloom, glad I got to see it this time.

Random side note; I've had that Jade plant in the background for roughly 13 years.

Tree Tobacco
Nicotiana glauca

A perennial.  This is a "weed" / invasive.  But it is so beautiful.  Mine is 12 feet tall.  It blooms 365 days a year.  Hummingbirds visit this tree everyday to drink from the flowers.  It is the most powerful and most deadly species of Tobacco.  It is also the tallest.  It grows into a small tree with a woody trunk.  It is green all year in mild climates.  It needs little water to survive.

Oh man I’m jealous.
Though isn’t Nicotiana  rustica stronger?
If I remember correctly N. glauca does have a different alkaloid profile, Anabasine  is pretty high if I remember correctly.
I’m curious if it would grow in my area. Coastal 7a.

Tobacco is such a powerful plant. I was looking for it for years, knowing when the time was right I would find it.
This past summer I came across  Nicotiana sylvestris while I was searching for Sweetgum/ American storax.
(Funny at that I found them the same day as in pre contact  South American tobacco culture I’ve read sweet gum resin was used as an additive.)
Very powerful day.

Going to be planting some seeds in the next week or so once it warms up.
Really looking forward to working with tobacco.

Yes rustica has much more nicotine.  But glauca has the most anabasine of all the tobaccos.  The effects of consuming nicotine and anabasine feel quite similar.  But the LD50 of anabasine is much lower.  Anabasine will cause one to stop breathing if too much is consumed.  Tree tobacco has long been used medicinally as a topical treatment for muscle and joint pain.  The leaves have a numbing, cooling sensation when crushed and then pressed up against the skin.  But too much smoked Tree Tobacco will literally cause muscle relaxation all over the body, to the point where the diaphragm becomes so relaxed that one is no longer able to breathe.  I just admire the plant's beauty.  I don't smoke it, though some people do.  It is a hummingbird magnet all year round.

That’s really interesting. I would smoke it.
Though when I say smoke I would be referring to using it in a kinnickinnick blend, mainly puffed and not inhaled. Don’t feel I’d be to worried about toxicity.
Traditionally tobacco wasn’t inhaled that often.
It still is such a powerful plant this way.

I find it funny that a lot of these Solanums have tree forms as well, datura, tomato, tobacco.
