hmmm, i dunno, i also doubt its an orchid. . .dont they usually come in clusters?
also, it doesnt match any of the georgia wild flowers from the orchid family that I found. . .

maybe this will help http://www.plantbio.uga.edu/herbarium/herbarium/gaflowers/gaflrindex.htm

There may be three reasons why you don't see them opened:

1. They are night-blooming plants and thus are done blooming by the time you see them.

2. They are self-fertilizing flowers and have no need to open all the way.

3. There isn't enough sunlight to allow them to open fully.

I suspect, judging by the plants shape that it's #3.

It looks a bit etiolated to me, even the flowers look like they're stretching for light.

really? o_O They are outdoors and we have a pretty brutal sun + they are only 2 blocks away from were we saved them (as in were they were growing originally). . .maybe we picked a bad spot to put them at. . .are they in risk of getting sick? should I move them to a 100% shadeless area?

I dont think thats necessary, but i guess if its best to re-locate them I might as well.

Have you seen those "huracaine season is here, be aware" signs all over? they seem so hostile!
I think it'll be great for the valley, we need more rain for mushroom hunting purposes, dont you think?

What direction is that side of your house facing and how much full sun does it get per day?

Since they were in a construction are, which are typically pretty barren, I'd say they can handle full-sun fine.
