It started yellowing on thw sides and little by little death ensued. I had had that pelecyphora for years and estimate its age at over 15. I bought thwm both and one other i forget which genus from ebay and they came like that. Rather etiolated and the center somehow hollow but still with life. They never flowered until i gave them a rock diet.

It's a Stenocactus but they're also known under Echinofossulocactus
One of my favorite genus

Thanks space man! There was only one that came in on a new shipment to this nursery and I couldn't resist. The spines remind me of those from a tephrocactus species
Edit: thinkin maybe stenocactus multicostatus?
