No problem. I'm sure there is a way to get them to set seed without crossing. I'll have to search for the thread on the nook about it that I read a while back.

ii'm having trouble getting seeds from my lophs. i wonder if i'm not giving them enough time. all the dried flowers are still stuck to the plant.

It is said that you can trick the self-sterile mechanism with lily pollen.

This will allow for self-fertilization, supposedly.

Haven't tried it myself.

I'm not sure... The only one I had that was flowering size died quite a while back during my opiate abuse(I neglected all my plants a lot during that period). It never flowered for me before it died. So, I had to start over again with seed.

I guess I'll find out in a few years... Or when some of my grafts from last year finally mature.

The L. williamsii should produce at least a few seeds on their own even without crossing. On the Lophophora blog he says it took him from Jul. 18 to Sept. 10 til fruit set. If that helps any...

Nice, always wanted a desert rose.

Loph fruits always appear a little while after the flowers - from a few weeks to 8 months. My loph has gone into dormancy, started growing again and immediately fruited. That's like 8 months where I live.

i got one that is growing big. i can't wait to see what colr flowers i get;. the people at the flea market nver seem to know.

when i got this the flowers were dead. then it rained and the fruits came out.

not even remotely flower related but pretty cool none the less. does anyone know when i can harvest the seeds?
