Haven't been around here in a long while but stopped by to check out the hunting forum for leads on the spring season and thought I'd drop by my old favorite forum here. Been growing some orchids and some carnivorous plants the last little while. Here's Phalaenopsis lobbii, a miniature species.

I have been growing turmerics for a number of years and never had any bloom. Been rooting rhizomes of black turmeric (Curcuma caesia) for a few months, and one of them pushed out a big bloom recently!

I'd like to share some of my Asclepiadaceae flowers with you. These are sometimes referred to as "the orchids of the succulent world", and while this may be a little over the top there's no denying that some flowers are stunning.
 Caralluma rodgersii
 Duvalia elegans
 Duvalia radiata
 Huernia kirkii
 Huernia zebrina
 Huernia zebrina subsp. magniflora
 Orbeanthus hardyi
 Piaranthus cornutus subsp. ruschii

A rather late poppy in flower, a few frosts didn't slow it down.
