grime and dubstep have always been two different things.

Yeah.... grime is it's own type of music. It's not like there was a period where dubstep was called grime and then everyone started to call it something else. Dubstep has some of it's "evolutionary roots" in grime, but no more so than it does garage, 2 step, dancehall, etc.

yeah, i've been dj'ing dubstep for many years now, since late 2005. I don't really like that it's all blown up everywhere these days... seeing it in commercials, stupid pub threads about it and the like. However, the WORST part is the fact that quality in releases has dropped to abyssmally low levels due to the massive influx in "producers". It used to be that when tunes got released on tuesday, the hard part would be not in what to buy, but since everything was so much fire, what NOT to buy. These days, you gotta comb through so many mediocre and shitty releases to find the sick shit.
The bubble's burst for the genre. While it'll always have a special spot in my heart and I'll always listen to it, I've been looking into newer/fresher sounds to spin.

haha ive never seen it in commercials. it's still relatively under ground. Ive spoken with a plenty of people from the uk that have never heard of it. It's blowing up as much as underground music can before becoming mainstream. i wish grime would get as big in the states. the two go together like pb&j

A few years late OP (or RP, whichever way you're inclined).
It's got old across the pond.

i dont believe that. seems to still be pretty popular going by the tone of most of the threads on dubstep forums.

Yeah, it is popular, but it is getting quite old now. I think its been around in England longer than US, or at least been known for longer.
