I think visuals are awesome. They're definitely entertaining. Who are you to decide what tripping is for anyway? Some people just like to get high. I don't think LSD is that good for introspection anyway, I reserve mushrooms for that and LSD for getting 'high as a kite'

But taking a highly potent psychedelic drug just to see some patterns is a pretty awful idea, IMO.

You're asking for a world of trouble. And let me explain why I think that is: whether you're aware of it or not, there is a massive cognitive catharsis happening in your mind. To completely ignore this, could cause some mental issues.

Just my opinion. I love visuals as much as the next guy. But to tinker around with your brain to just to see visuals seems to sell the whole experience short.

And the OP specifically stated that he's trying to achieve "enlightenment" through visuals, which just really doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Alright, I know exactly what you mean.
People have different ideas of how trips should be spent and used and such.
It's just that though, one person's opinion.

I don't think there is some higher order above us that we should all strive to achieve while we are tripping. I think if you want to do that, that is great. I also think that if you don't want to do that, that is great to.

I personally use psychedelics for the way they make me think and shift my perception. That doesn't mean that I look down on people for using them for fun (not pointing any fingers).

We are all just living life.

This is all subjective. Just because one of my favorite things about LSD is the visuals, does not mean that by enjoying them, I am ignoring the 'cognitive catharsis' that is happening. Its impossible to ignore, in fact, and just the fact that I am embracing the visions means that I am not ignoring the whatever. Just think about what you're saying; It would be impossible to ignore the psychological aspect of an LSD trip and only experience the visuals. Its just kinda snooty of people to say that anyone who enjoys the visuals is missing the big picture...No I'm not, period.
