Reminds me of a simpler time.

Does anybody else watch shows like that 70's show or listen to the lyrics of older music and just wish they were born in a different time? Sitting in the basement with some high school friends listening to records and hiding out from parents and all just seems so real, so concrete. I've seen photos of my parents back in the 70's and it's such a simpler time. All this technology is great, I mean I eat this shit up with a spoon but I'd definitely give my current life away for a simpler time where manual labor (what we call bitch work now) made you a wealthy person who could raise a large family and own a decent chunk of land. Everything back then seemed so honest and, I have to use the word again, concrete. Right now things just don't feel as important as they should in my mind, with everything going digital and on computers it just feels less important that it is/should be. If that makes any sense.
Can anyone here born pre-1960ish or so confirm this? Was life really that much simpler or was it just an adolescent version of what's going on now?

I understand what you're saying but I can't really relate. A have a friend like you who always talks about how cool the sixties were and he always listens to music from that decade and talks about the hippie movement blah blah blah. It gets to the point where it's detrimental to his being happy in the present moment.
I mean we're not in the seventies nor will we ever be (until 2070 ) so I think its important to find happiness in the time that you do live in. If you're always wishing you were in the seventies it's just gonna eat away at you. And furthermore, you can't be certain that the seventies were any happier of a time than today. People had their problems back then too, they were just different problems.

Yeah that's why I wonder. I'm sure it's all relative. People probably stressed about so much other shit back then than what I do about now. But still, there's just something so enticing about that time. Not the drugs, alcohol, etc, but just life in general. It's not even music that's pushing me toward it, it's just the feeling I get when I'm exposed to elements of that era.
