note to self: next time pick a less robust stock.
man this thing is getting huge. its got scars from this one time the shade net came off and rubbed the skin in a bad way. it leaves it soft and unappealing. then it scars like this. i don't worry much about the scarring because i have had several like this and once it gets to growing again, the scar keeps moving south and dissappears.
has anyone ever seen anything like this? should i be worried about rot? this is one stock i will never use again. its just too fast in my opinion. i'll stick with san pedro for lophs now.

a KK242 torch labed by zircon i believe. its huge and might be a T macrogonus but i think its a peruvian torch. either way its too fast for my lophs.
edit-this the mother for the stock.

That's a shame it has split.
If you really think that stock is too fast you should degraft it in case it splits more. I wouldn't want too many open wounds if your weather is anything like ours in Spring, humid etc.

lophs are pretty flelixble, takes a lot to split them, i would bet that split because of the scar....they split super easy when the skin gets hard.,...be it from cuts, sun burn, healed rot, spider mites etc. hard skin on lophs = splitting on grafts. dry it out, let it heal i doubt it will rot if the air is dry. healthy lophs are super hardy with dry air.

One one of my loph caespitosa grafts also started to split a few weeks ago. I dunno what caused it...was a perfect little pup when grafted a few months back has tripled in size since. I was guessing maybe over watering was the cause so stopped and its seemed to stop splitting for now. I think I'll let it heal a bit more before I resume watering.

the good thing it has been dry. there doesn't seem to be much to it. no rot or nothing. i checked it a little while ago so its good. i just want this beast to flower already. better sooner than later
hey kada, do you think it will ever look normal again?

yeah that seems to be what mine has done. come to think of it, mine is place right next to the wall where all the runn off of rain hits. that is most likely it. too much water. it rained last week.

it did but you'd be surprised how fast those scars vanish when they are in growth mode. it just keeps moving south and south and...
