Oh, I'm sorry, I'm a newb obviously so could you explain why that makes a difference?  He boiled them for 90 minutes...that's not sterilization :\

Boiling water is ~212 F.

Boiling water at 15 PSI is upwards of ~250+ F.

Without the pressure, the water doesn't get hot enough to do much.

Correct?

Also, just because there is some colonization, don't jump to the conclusion that you will get fruit bodies... There is a ways to go, and contams have a nasty habit of showing up at the last moment.

A full pressure cook of 90 minutes at 15 PSI gives you the most success... not sure why BRF cakes are that different. Mold spores are mold spores.

Woot, check on em about every 4-5 days for contams. Other than that, just sit back and wait

So with the cake I birthed I saw some mycelium stuck on the walls of the cake. So I tried something out. I pressure cooked some verm and BRF mixed with water and then put it in the jar and sealed it up.  The mycelium is still continuing to grow hopefully this works.

Update- day 9

Heres a picture of a few of the jars, they are coming along well. I believe the one farthest to the right to be contaminated. It has much more growth than the others and has a purple spot in the middle of the myc. heres a picture, you cant really see it but you can notice a purple tinge in the direct center.

what y'all think?
