Echinopsis crest!

Check this out fellas. I just found this severely neglected echinopsis hidden away out the back. I'd completely forgotten about it. To my surprise upon closer inspection I saw a little crest popping out the top! The plant looks as though its survived some serious rot which has eaten about 2 thirds the way through it. Pretty awesome I thought. Now I'm not sure if I should attempt to graft him to a pedro or let him carry on growing how he is.

Looks a bit more like it's dichotomous, but I'll hope for a crest for ya!

Yeah I was thinking it may do that. Hopefully not...have to wait and see I guess. Might just go ahead and graft anyway.

That was a pleasant surprise I bet.
I'd be inclined to graft it myself but whatever you do I hope it does become a crest.

Looks like it is but it also looks dichotomous. I haven't much experience with them so cannot definitely say yay or nay.
Crest definition: Also called fasciation; a mutation that results when the growing point of a plant forms a long line, rather than a single point. In botanical terms it is usually signified by Cristate.
Dichotomous definition: Forking equally; as when the stem divides into two equal branches.

I think I see 2 apical meristems instead of an elongated one.
Look for the accumulation of areoles.

Yeah it does sort of look that way, either way still a cool thing to discover in the collection.

I agree, it does look dichotomous. Would a dichotomous crest be possible? I don't see why not.
