whats up every one I need some help....

  I just wanted to see if anybody could help me save this cake....?? it's got some kind of green mold on it... it has it on the top ..and on the side..


It's A cambodian cake..

i realy want to try and save this cake if nothing else...

if anybody has any ideas please hook them up... thanks... :confused:

ps... sorry about the fuzzy pix... my digie sicks... :crazy:

Your sure thats green mold?

It might just be me or the pictures but i didn't really see anything to be worried about, i could see some darker areas But i'm not going to lie i couldn't see that well. How fast is this spreading or growing?

If your faily confident that it is mold, you can try misting it with a bleach water mix and it could help. Or even a quick dunk in a mix as well

but to be safe keep this cake away from your normal growing area and treat it else where away from other cakes.

  well.... thanks for the input ... and yes it seems to be spreading...

and i know that the pix's are fuzzy as hell.... I'm going to take a few better shots
tonight witch I'll post up ..
so that the green is seen ...

before i try any bleaching or crazy teks i want that shit identified ..
so that i know what I'm dealing with...  :wink:

Try circling the areas your worred about using some kind of photo editor......even MS paint would work
then it at least lets us look at one area

Umm try taking a cutting and see if its green under the surface, if it is then chuck it

but first i'll be refixing up my glove box... i'm puting new gloves on it ..and I just finished redoing the top... :wink: check it out

well... back to the contam cakes...  :crazy:

witch by the way ......I broke up and found green with in it..
and now I'm getting rid of it .. but still for the next time ...

if any body knows how to fix a problem like this hook me up with the info please...

this way i don't get so impatient with it.. and pissed off at all the work i put in to this failure that it's gotten to... :mad: 























here's a pint jar that i still have going but i see green in it already ...

i don't want to get rid of it yet ... but i have seperated it from the others ..
i'll be keeping a close watch on this one ... tell me what you think....

Icky green. Throw it out... U could try to DUnk it in a 1/200 bleach and water for 12 hrs. Then spray it with H202 and seperate it in a seperate chamber. THis is if you really wanna try to save it. I would just throw it out, Its only 1 cake. Not worth getting sick from it.

No bleach and h2o2. Try a little experiment at home, grab a soup spoon put one drop of bleach and the rest with water, then add a drop of h2o2, "nice bubbles". I've never tried the procedure you're refering to but in theory it's harmful to mycelium.

  here's an update on that pint jar of Cambodian..  that was starting to get green on it..



i just took a stainless steal tea spoon and lysol'd it and then i put a fire to it.... to clean it .. :wink:

then

i used my glove box

to keep the air clean wile i opened it in there and scooped out
the green.. the verm that was the top layer on the jar filled in the hole... so far it looks like it's getting better


but I'll keep my eye on it.. just in case ...

i also have it separated from the rest of my jars ...also just in case

i hope u have luck, out of my experience i havent been able to save anything from contams. Therefor i throw all contams away now. its to easy to just make a new jar.

  well just to let you know......

the jar seems to be getting better all the way around.. :wink:...

so we'll see what happens .. I'll post more pix on it when i see enough growth  on that spot... :grin:

the jar of Cambodian is getting a lot better  :smile:...

it's growing way pass the line that it was under ...and it's almost gotten colonized all the way around the jar.. :grin:

I did however see another little green spot on it so I just did the same tek I did before I just flamed a metal teaspoon and then lysoled it...then I put it in the glove box... I also cooked up some fresh verm.. so as to cover the hole that I dig out...  :smirk:


Then I dug out the green spot and dumped it in a little cup...



heres what the jars looked like befor I dug out the green again... as of 1/18/03





well I'll tell you what thou.. if that jar doesn't work out .. we would still have the honey... he hee he.....
