mycelium questions!
    #1208212 - 01/10/03 11:34 PM (14 years, 9 days ago)

I have been wondering about my friend's mycelluim growth due to some clear gel like substance forming on the side of his jars. also the mycellium has shrunk a tiny bit. Are both of these things normal?!?

shrinking is normal, but i dont know about the gel, sounds like a contam unless its condensation.

gel is not a normal thing.

perhaps its mycelium 'piss'. try to move the jar to see if its more like water-dropplets than gel

The gel sounds like condensation.

I did a bit of research and if this "gel" is a slimy part on the substrait and the growth has slowed or stoped it could be a bacteria(sp?). maby im wrong, i know i get quite paranoid about my jars, and i lost one to a colorless slime that stoped growth. so just look into it and save your self a bit of trouble.

good luck!
