If you guys want to be a part of the change you all should look up Slow Food and join the groups in your area.
I haven't seen Food Inc. but have been trying to get my boyfriend to see it with me to help him understand why I choose to buy meats from farmers who raise and kill their animals humanely, and support heirloom varities instead of the uniform produce that is fucking up native plants and wildlife.
I used to be a somewhat stereotypical vegetarian anarcho punk kid and believed eating animals was wrong and terrible. How could I eat the flesh of another living thing? After a while I realized that by consuming any dairy product I was still supporting the meat industry. Not all calves born are female so something must be done with all the steers and you can't just keep them all. What about by products of the meat industry? Try to think about all the foods with gelatin in them or what you feed your pets. The whole animal is used, all of it. So if nothing has gone to waste then whats wrong with it?
When I began working at an organic hydroponic produce farm I realized I felt bad harvesting micro greens (sprouts), and young lettuces. Seeing them so green and full of life and just ripping them out of the ground or hydro tables, cutting off their roots, and stuffing them in bags. It was, in ways, no different than sending an animal off to slaughter.

I fully understand that but I still don't want to be part of it. And secondly those fruits and vegetables have gone through evolution with the "purpose" of being eaten to spread their seed.

Predatory animals wouldn't have evolved if meat wasn't meant to be eaten.

We have the capability to not eat meat and survive with ample energy. I'm not just eating meat because of the cruelty but because I feel healthier and lighter. It gives me a spring in my step without that heavy feeling I get from meat. Obviously I can't be perfect about who I impair with my actions but for now this gives me peace of mind. I still think it's an important point that while plants may be conscious of their surroundings they will not feel any kind of displeasure from losing a part of them they produce with a purpose of it dispersing itself from the rest of the plant. If anything it makes me a sort of heathen for eating what could be considered the reproductive system's product.

I thought food inc. was definitely food for thought. I am afraid I'd waste away to nothing if I became a vegetarian, but it certainly makes me consider it.

Oh man. And those are slightly more tame than some I've seen in real life.

sometimes I wonder... if I limited my diet to only food I'd be growing naturally.. will my health be dimished?
If I only ate from my own garden.. are big corporations telling us it's unhealthy to eat 1 type of food for a reason? do we really need to eat meat to stay healthy? do we really need all these calories per day? do we even really need to eat every day?
let's face the facts. we've been brainwashed to believe that our bodies need certain thangs in order to stay healthy. but do we really need all of them all of the time?
technically, the less we eat = the less energy we produce = the longer we live. Michio Kaku says in order to double the lifespan of a living creature, you must first starve it.
there's really a lot to look into but for now, i'll just be going with the flow. there's a time and a place to think about these thangs. but right now, there are more important thangs to be thought about.
like this alien disclosure that's supposed to be happening C'MON what is the deal?

I saw that video also from the guy in your sig but I don't know enough about it or him to test that credibility. I consider quoting him sometimes but I don't know enough.

your health would be much better, raising your own food gives you control over what you eat, you eliminate a great deal of the crap that diminishes your health and your food will be far better tasting

yes, meat or eggs i you intend to raise your own food eat every day... no, not even 3 meals per day, I've lived off on meal per day for 20 years and the dominant portion of my diet was meat I had plenty of energy and was in great health
