Transfering live mycelium to stagnant PF jar
    #1206777 - 01/10/03 09:43 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

Due to some very dilute spore syringes I used during innoculation, approximately 6 jars remain stagnant with absolutely no signs of mycelial growth. Has anyone tried transferring a small chunk of live mycelium from a recently birthed jar into a non-colonizing jar? I realize there is a significant chance of contamination, but that's moot considering the jars aren't doing anything anyway.

Thanks
Viking

Bringing up an old topic instead of starting a new one, to show I know how to UTFSE. I'm considering this exact thing. Transferring to start some stagnant jars up. Has anyone had success doing this?

Make fresh jars, save yourself the trouble of failing. Props for using the search engine.

Problem is I'm moving before too long, and have no spores. I want to grow some more to stock up, because I won't grow if I live with someone else (living alone now). I got a bunk syringe and it has colonized 0 jars, while the other syringes all took. I was just thinking if this had a reasonable possibility of succeeding I'd go for it and try to get a few more jars going before the move

Transferring from a colonized jar is semi-possible, but transfer to fresh media. And really, you'd be better off to wait for a better situation.
