Cakes not fruiting?
    #1206923 - 01/10/03 12:37 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Is it possible for a cake that is totally covered in mycelium, for some reason just not fruit at all. My friends cakes have been covered in mycelium for more than a week now and we've been exposing them to light and no pins seem to be forming. The strain is mexican cubensis from the hawks eye if that matters. Any comments would be appriciated.

I leave my light on for as long as 9 hours some days and it is directly overhead. Maybe they arent getting enough or like he said, they are too dry. Mist the walls and lid if water droplets from condensation are not already there.

Wait two weeks until you begin to worry. What are your growing conditions like?

Right now 1 of my 5 cakes are pinning and i dunked that cake for 12hours the day i took it out. its been a week and 5 days now SO MY SUGGESTION IS TO WAIT A WEEK to a WEEK AND A HALF regardless of what this site says. And a 12 hour dunk in a sterile cup in sterile conditions would help.

Hey man. Yeah i have some allen cake and creeper cakes as well. Its been 2 weeks for the allens and still no pins. The are completey covered in fuzzy myc. Dont worry, your not doing anything wrong. I am in the same boat as you, just be patient. As for the creepers it took about 2 weeks from birthing to see pins. Mind you they were very poor pinners, i got 2 pins per cake from the first flush. And its been about 10 days since then and i still havent gotten my second flush. So like everyone has said, dont worry about it. just be patient they will come around sooner or later. good luck

  Road

is it a pretty common rule of thumb that if they dont pin you dunk them ? and what about cold shocking ? do you have a prefference?

My concern is that they might be dehydrated.

I always injected water into my cakes at birth....10cc to 20cc of water...using a sterile syringe.
Then dunked them after the first flush.

Yes I have cold shocked cakes with good results.

Did you use the inner reservoir tek Road? Or was it an injection directly into the cake?

I always injected directly into the cake with a sterile 20cc syringe full of Purified water.

I injected into several places in the cake...ala Voodoo tek.

Actually this is my Version of the Voodoo tek.

In the first Voodoo Tek... Hippie3 drilled holes in his cakes with a drill.

So injecting them with a syringe is different than the actual Voodoo tek.
So I guess I could call it the Roadkill Syringe Voodoo Tek.

lolzzz
