Is there such a thing as too much gypsum? I wouldn't think so, but I have to ask.

I can't imagine why going over 15% would be good for your substrate.

I have to ask then, when preparing grains, how much gypsum should I add to my PC half full of grains(23Qt PC)? I generally use a couple tablespoons in the mix while soaking and boiling with coffee, could I add more for better effect?

5-10% by volume half full 23 qt pc would be ~12.5 liters. So I would do a little less than a liter.
I highly doubt adding any more than 5-10% would have a positive affect.

bare.whiterabbit was asking how much gypsum he should use while soaking his grains, not how much gypsum to add to his bulk sub
DO NOT ADD 5-10% DURING THE SOAK
all you need is a butter knife tip full of gypsum for every jars worth of grain that you are soaking/simmering. thatll do the trick. the 5-10% only applies to the bulk sub, not the soak.
