So a lot of people talk about the use of gypsum and I would like to know what it's for. I didn't use any for my cakes but with what people say o probably should of. What if after I let my cakes consolidate and then after I dunk them would rollin them in maybe a verm gypsum mix help? Should I not fuck with this?
Also another question I have 12 cakes and 3 of them have little growth. I want to make an agar grow or something similar to that but I don't have any more spores at the moment is there something I can do with maybe one of the cakes?

I wouldn't risk taking the cakes out, because non-100% cakes will bring contams to agar like flies to a horses ass.
I use some gypsum, about 1TBSPN for any PC pot full that I make up....not sure about dunking and rolling in it though, I don't think it'd really help in potent quantities, but who knows. Maybe someone else will have a different take.

I googled, and found this for you
"It’s hard to overestimate the role gypsum plays in the compost preparation process. Even though it’s used in relatively small amounts — about 60 kg for a ton of compost, gypsum plays a decision role in the formation of the compost’s structure and pH level. The pH level, in turn, determines the content of nitrogen in the compost. It’s a very important indicator for the nutrition of mushroom mycelium. The point is that the mushroom mycelium assimilates organic nitrogen, and can «eat up» the ammoniac one"

Well slap my ass and call me Judas...then it may just be beneficial to the cakes to have a very small amount of powdered gypsum in some perlite when you do your roll.
