Pressure cooker run out of water but towel that was at the bottom of PC was still moist
    #12046972 - 02/17/10 01:04 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

So i pressure cooked pf jars for about 1,5h at 15PSI. I placed a towel at the bottom of PC and pf jars on top of it so jars wont be in direct touch with bottom of PC. When i opened it there was no water, but the towel was still moist, is my jars OK?

I checked the bottoms of jars and it looked like it was moister than the upper layers so its propably fine, i inoculated them. If mycelium doesnt start growing in a week i start all over.

Dont know if i should. Mycelium had covered 20% at day 4 when everything went nice last time i growed this same strain. And the spores i used this time was fresh, so i should see mycelium in a week. If it goes over a week to see a little spot of mycelium doesnt it mean that it wont fruit at its max power =)?

I would be more concerned about the pressure cooker than the jars.  Running the PC without water can cause the bottom of the PC to crack.

Do you mean that if it has once used without water it can crack even if i use it correctly after that?

I don't think it would crack later under normal operation if it hasn't already.  It hasn't happened to me so I am not positive.  I think you'll be fine.  Just be careful to avoid running it dry again.

Today i made new jars and this time i didnt run out of water from pressure cooker. I compared these jars that i made succesfully today to those that i made yesterday when the water ran out from pressure cooker but the towel that was at the bottom of it did still have some water in it, and they looked exact the same! So im positive that this is going fine afterall.
