3lb rye berry (presterilized) ain't doin' shee-it (9 days)
    #12052018 - 02/18/10 04:20 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

inoculated with 4cc of PE, per a few veterans' suggestions.  Delivery mechanism and 3lb presterilized rye berry bags came from Sporeworks, so...

Not a trace of myc.  Nor of any green nasties.  Abode is plenty warm.

What to do now?

I assume that's the bags you were telling me about.

Where did you get the spores from you knocked them up with?

Just because you don't see anything, this doesn't mean there's no contamination present. Bacterial contams, often can't be seen, but smelled. Did you notice any kind of "weird" i.e not rye-like smell from the bags?

Everything came from Sporeworks.  &  I don't smell anything unsavory from the bag.

grrrr:frown:

Hm... The chance for a crap shot with 4CC of solution is rather small.

Maybe you should get in contact with sporeworks once again and tell them your problem:shrug:

...try another 3cc into each bag (from a different syringe)?  I've only got...5 syringes of PE, for pete's sake.

Maybe not.  I've not dealt with a 3lb bag of rye berries before.  So I'm asking...

Nine days is a long time, but not that unusual. Wait until about 14 days and if you still don't see any growth, you should probably shoot in another few CC's.

That is odd. I've had it happen before though. I would do as the other guys say. Give it a few more days.

If you shot the solution into the middle of the bag, it will be hidden.  If you shot the solution along the edges of the bag, you should be seeing something by now.

I shot (maybe errantly) as deep as I cd into the bags.  Would you suggest I give them another cc or two knock and along the sides?

Ahh that makes sense. I shot a syringe into the middle of brf jars my first time around, didnt see any myc for damn near two weeks. I assume thats what your experiencing as well.

Not really, no. If there is any mycelial growth, you should see it sooner or later, so there's no need to pump in more solution, when everything is actually according to schedule.

Otay.  I'll just wait.  (& in short order, will get off my ass, buy a pressure cooker and start canning.  Been a long time, but I've done it before.)

Soon enough you'll have enough prints to knock up the whole plant, so don't worry:wink:
