After removing fully colonized cakes from their casings, what is an ideal temperature for the water that they are to be dunked in?

My understanding is once you remove a fully colonized cake from its jar, you should dunk in a container with something to keep the cake submerged. Place this in the fridge for 12-24 hours before removing . From there id suggest a roll for the good ole dunk and roll...IMO it out performs just cakes put right into fruiting. So simple answer...Cold...it should be dunked in cold water.
Welcome to the forums!

theres no need to dunk in the fridge. That just slows things down.
Dunking at room temp is fine.
Use tap water if yoiur tap water is drinkable.

Learn something new everyday, My understanding was the cold slowed down any contam's...but from a different perspective lowering the temp to that of a fridge must have an affect on the growth of mycelium now that I think about it...Aphyon take what I say with a grain of salt lol there are hundreds if not thousands of people here with more know how and experience then myself, was just tossing in my 2 cents tho. Veda thanks for the correction

Dunking in the fridge is a good idea, when your room temperatures are very high (in summer for example). It reduces the chance of contams during the time of the dunk. The contam rate from not dunking in a fridge is extremely low, but it's there.
Personally I have never found a fridge dunk to slow down the growth in any way that could be considered noteworthy.
