simple question about yield
    #12047451 - 02/17/10 02:20 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

My goal is to produce a pound of DRIED mushroom, my only question is I need an idea on how big my grow chamber has to be and how much substrate I need to fill it.  I know it varies from strain as far as yield goes... I just need a ballpark figure on how much im ganna have to spend

Only dealers worry about yield. Do some research.

you need to do some bulk grows and you will be able to answer those questions yourself.  But to b safe I would do 4 monotubs.

You'll need several grow chambers. A pound of mushrooms is A LOT of materials and months of work.

I suggest you do some homework before you start asking questions like this.

200 BRF jars.  Your daughter will need to give up her bedroom for a while 'cause you'll need a big fruiting chamber and kids are dirty.

growing a pound would be easy. the problem would be all the space you need for all the monotubs. then the harvesting and drying and dunking. it all becomes more of a hassle the more tubs you are working with.

To answer your question, 4-5 monotubs.  You should be able to get multiple flushes though.

I understand why everyone is directing him towards the search feature, but sometimes a simple answer is all that is needed.  If he doesn't do his research, he will fail regardless.

using a greenhouse or a martha would be best for a grow this large. that way you can transfer your sub from the tubs to the gh.

Fuck cakes, do grains, in 1L jars, use Multigrain formulas and coffee and gypsum and get yourself 2-3 50L Rubbermaids from Walmart, they're big and brown and stack easily on top of each other. Then do a Turbinado sugar LC and start with a test BRF, then just inoculate all your jars with the LC once you know it's clean. Shouldn't take a more than a month or so and it'll make for great bulk.

Edit: the beauty of the Rubbermaids is you can put 3 12"x12" gardening trays in the bottom or 1 of those and a 24"x12" tray and with a good layer of perlite on the bottom, the RH is great and they stay the perfect warmth on the inside.

2nd Edit: You can also look into doing Log Teks, which aren't as difficult as some may make it out to be. Just google Sock Log Tek by M&M or SkyPilots 1'x3' logs and keep in mind they don't have to be huge to get great flushes and you get a 360* growing surface for max fruits....plus it looks dope and is easier to look after than other grow styles, just put in a chamber with a decent humidity(not a huge deal, considering logs are mostly straw and retain water very nicely and they warm themselves)
