Can you use glasses shaped like this without any problems? http://s7v1.scene7.com/is/image/JohnLewis/230449122?$product$
In other words, jars that get a lot smaller towards the bottom. Thanks =)

That will work. You can also find plastic tubs with a similar shape.

Yep, I use glasses almost exactly like that (Sainsbury's has good quality cheap ones in packs of 4, if you're in the UK). They're slightly more than a half pint, I think, but when you account for the dry verm layer that makes for nice-sized cakes.

i did the first time. my advice is to just skip to grains. everyone should all stick to grains. i think a little added effort with growing with grains is worth the reward of the mushrooms, a lot more mushrooms then from the PF tek. also, i know people would disagree.
good luck.
+ you can use any shaped item that dosent get smaller at the bottom. so those would work perfectly. experiment with strange shaped items and post pics

of course, you don't have to stick to only one method...
When I get a print of something new I make syringes, put some on agar, inocculate some LC, make rye jars, and do a few cakes. Spores are fun.
