I've seen the pictures and read the acrticle. so.... my question is... what's the secret? the gypsum, the light? both? I got some cakes ready but they didn't have gypsum but i'll cop a light if its gonna make that much a difference. where do i find the light and gypsum?

Punch a hole in your wall and grab some Sheetrock and jump up and down on it. wall-aw gypsum.
Light: Get a compact florescent about 6500 K they cost about a buck. or put your FC by the window for some indirect sunlight.
Get creative and follow some teks so you don't make the same mistakes others have. Don't get too frustrated at failure just learn from it.
And DON'T GIVE UP

When using dry wall for gypsum make sure its not fire retardant drywall or any other special kind. You just want plain old dry wall

I got a 25 # bag of plain old Gypsum at my local nursery for 5 bucks.
The compact florescent I have are 20w and can be had at my local dollar store or hardware store, Just look for one that has about 6500 k or kelvin marked on it.
I got good results from putting it buy my window for indirect sunlight.  I kept it out of direct sunlight as i read somewhere that that was bad. Maby someone can chime in why exactly.
