There is a god and it is insufferable!
    #12042099 - 02/16/10 08:48 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

There is an all pervading "mind" - and it is insane! It is needy necessarily, just as you are! But you’ve it for it and likewise. So smash the mirrors at every chance you get or let your happenstance glance into its self trickery laud your masochistic tendencies. Maybe you’ll get somewhere, or maybe you’ll run in that wheel even faster. I see you sweating, I see you sweating indeed. I like it, I like it indeed. To suffer is to be alive, and to be alive is to suffer, there isn’t any other way in the end (except to throw wrenches at your memory functions).

Projection or self distillation, I know not, though I think this isn't saying much... well until now at least... But I have "substance monism/panpyschism" tendencies, so... :thaaannks:

(maybe betray your supposed handle on what you think is mindful and what is not - and im talking about the nexus of causality we get glimpses of as we are qualia engineers and something usurps our mental burpage as our engine misfires - to go along with this I call that ultimate self flagellation - but we are curious and daft)

:blah:

I need to read more Spinoza.  What book would you recommend starting out with?

I've posted on this subject myself. If one really looks at how the natural world works then by human standards any universal consciousness would have to be kind of malevolent at best and at worst very insane.

But beyond that recognition it does no good to rant and rave against what is. Instead I like to try and have fun and become happier then I was. Just as a sort of spite.

This is the edition I have:

http://www.amazon.com/Spinoza-Reader-Ethics-Other-Works/dp/0691000670

The editor introduction and such is a nice aid, and some of the other works and selections are good. I know some people like his other stuff... but of coure The Ethics is his magnum opus - its a beast and something I def need to read at least a few more times for it to really sink in, its pretty hefty. But I like Spinoza a lot.
