New to this, Will this work?
    #12040441 - 02/16/10 02:46 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I intend to start cultivating shrooms. I have met a guy online who will send me pre-colonized jars that he says just need misting to begin fruiting.

I intend to place 4 or so jars in a tubaware container, a drill a few holes throughout the container for oxygen. I will place a single CFL 6500k light inside the container, and leave it running 24/7. To maintain a high humidity, I will add water to the base of the container regularly, and place a heating pad under the container to keep the water evaporating.

I'll open the container twice a day to fan it out.

Will this work? This is what I've understood from my current research. I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

A sgfc? Not sure what that is. Well Okay I can use a clear container with a light above it. But do I just put the open jars inside the container?

You need to go and do some more research a sgfc is called a shotgun fruiting chamber.  Its a rubbermaid tote with small holes drilled every 2 inches to accommodate FAE(fresh air exchange) with wet perlite on the bottom to accommodate RH(relative humidity)

Just incase you didnt know...

What your doing is illegal...just sayin' it could
be some Fed on the other side of the screen.

:aweoverdose:

Much better to start from scratch.

The heating pad thing is a bad idea,
lots of heat invites contams and have you ever
tried to get the right temp with a heat pad?
its a long process.

Your going to need perlite or lavarock in there..

Do a little research on this website...
so much info but most it is already picked through for you.

anyways good luck and my 2c
