OK to colonize substrate in the cat closet?
    #12040181 - 02/16/10 01:52 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I'm guessing the answer is 'no' for obvious reasons, but thought I'd ask.  I have some awesome shelf space in our cat litter box closet that I would like to use for germinating/colonizing PF and WBS jars cause I'm about to have a lot of them.  One shelf is about 3 feet from the floor, the other about 6 feet.  Poopy box is mostly enclosed, about 2 feet high. I would obviously clean the room thoroughly and sterilize initially, but wonder what the potential for contams would be in this environment on average.  This will also be my first WBS/RYE project, so I'd hate to get off on the wrong foot.  Thanks Much

Honestly I don't think it will matter. I don't do that but I have 4 cats and there litters not that far from my stuff and I don't have issues, just gotta do everything right.

Well maybe put a few in to start and see what happens rather than losing the whole project. Thanks for your input friend.
