Is there a mold killer machine?
    #12039816 - 02/16/10 12:53 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

Is there some kind of mold machine that you can leave in a room that acts somewhat like a humidifier? or is that pretty much what an air purifier is, lol:smirk:?:mushroom2:

If your talking about in a fruiting environment, its called a fan.  Keep air moving and temps resonable and mold will not be an issue.  If you are talking in an inoculation scenario, just use a still air box (glove box without gloves) wiped out with soap and water and be sterile.... alcohol and latex gloves....  or get a flowhood but it is unnecessary and expensive and bulky in my opinion.

Not a machine but there are "gas bags" they release a mold inhibiting  gas into a closed area. The boats you see on trailers that are shrink wrapped with white plastic have gas bags hanging in them because they are almost air tight.

It sounds like the OP is taking about trying to turn an ordinary room into a clean room. Mold is ubiquitous and lives on substrates just like mushrooms; therefore, no machine that filters the air will affect living mold. Mold spores, on the other hand, which float in the air, can be filtered from the air using a HEPA filter or flowhood. Is that what you mean, OP? Please clarify.

I think you may have mistyped cause your contradicting yourself saying mold lives on everything and cant be filtered then saying that it can with a hepa

No, I did not mis-type, but you appear to have mis-read. I was referring to the difference between mold and mold spores. One lives on a substrate, while the other can be found floating in the air everywhere.

I believe subiedude ment Ozone-air purifier. It does kill spores, although some also says that it kills people (veeeeery slowly).

It just so happens that I was searching for the same thing this morning. The best preliminary option I found was the Airfree P1000 Air Sterilizer. It utilizes a thermodynamic sterilization system and reportedly eliminates 99.99% of airborne microorganisms down to a size of 0.03 microns. Considering it only costs $200 I thought it was an attractive option.

i have one of these, got it for 5 bucks at a goodwill store, works fine.  it says it's supposed to kill mold, bacteria, fungi, mildew and viruses.  i don't know if that's true, but it sure will make a hell of a lot of ozone, kinda makes my house smell like watermelon rinds.
