Breaking up WBS

When breaking up the WBS at 25-50% colonization how thorough should one be?
Should one hit repeatedly very thoroughly until all the grains are separated from every other grain? Or should one just moderately hit it, dispersing and mixing the colonized WBS throughout the jar, still leaving chunks of WBS still together?
Is there any potential damage of "over-beating" the jar?

A couple of beats and shakes will have a jar thats a quarter of the way done, complete itself in 2 to 3 days. makes sure to shake well adding a twist to your shake and you will ensure your completion on this portion of the project.

Appreciate the response.. you didn't really answer my question though. A couple wacks of the jar left an entire massive chunk of WBS still stuck together. I beat it a few more times and broke it down, but noticed there's still like golf-ball sized chunks of mycelium still in there. So I guess it doesn't really matter how many times you hit it, because that's relevant to the force and the angle and so forth.. but how broken up should the WBS be, is my question?
Thanks

Okay, and Do I, like the BRF Jars, need to wait 7 days after 100% before putting it in fruiting conditions?

You probably want to spawn the grains to a bulk substrate and therefore you don't need to wait.
You only need the consolidation time, when you want to fruit of the substrate, the mycelium grew on.

Break it up thoroughly, a few small clusters is okay. If you add gypsum to the water when you soak the WBS, it will aide in allowing the WBS to break apart easier.
Since you are not fruiting the WBS like a cake, you don't need to wait an extra week before you use it. Once the outside is completely colonized wait an extra day or so before you shake it all up again before spawning to bulk.
BRF cakes don't get shook up, so you have to wait an extra 5-7 days to make sure that the entire cake is colonized before birthing.

When breaking apart WBS jars I personally use the method RR suggests for breaking apart your grain. That being getting an inflated bike tire and give the jar several mighty wacks against it to break everything up nice and good. Works like a dream
