Are these mushrooms in the jar?
    #12039724 - 02/16/10 12:34 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I've been waiting to birth this jar for a while, and now I see a little growth in it - is that the beginning of a mushroom?
Also, there are little solid white bubbles showing up in other spots, are those good news too?

It's pins and primordia. You should really birth it.

What's the substrate you used in that jar? Looks dark and not fully colonized.

Brown rice flour and vermiculite.  Part of it looked like it had some cotton trying to grow in, so i dug it out and laid down dry vermiculite in its place - hence the 'Not fully colonized' look.

I notice that there are little black liquid spots along the white ropes, is that just a waste product, or some kinda dirt from the verm?

Very rhizo how did you manage to get pins in a hardly colonized jar? Did you roll it and put it back in the jar?

That's a pretty good way to fail.
Anyway, birth it and remove all uncolonized parts of substrate. It might help if you'd keep us updated with the progress of this cake.

I have no idea lol, I saw some threads with people "dunking" their cakes inside the jar by filling the jar up with water and it only makes sense that pins would be coming off a colonised cake seeing as that is a pinning trigger and just about the only trigger available to a jar since theres no FAE
