Pressure Cookers
    #12038434 - 02/16/10 06:06 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I finally broke down and decided it would be a wise decision to go out and purchase a pressure cooker.  I've got my selection narrowed down to two different PC's.  I'm also up to any suggestions and opinions, as this will be the first time owning such device.

I have spent the last two hours going through the search results based on the term "Pressure Cooker".  However, after about 500 out of 10,000+ threads I wasn't exactly finding the information I was looking for.

Presto 23 Quart

All-American 21 1/2 Quart

Any opinions on the above models would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in Advance

You'll be happy with either of those.
The Presto will require a new gasket some day- maybe soon, depending. The AA will never need anything like that.
Many members here own one or the other or both and love them- you really can't go wrong with this decision.

My presto's cool but i am worried about the gasket thing. I have heard AA is the best

I just recently bought a new gasket for mine. It was about $10, which is reasonable for how long I used it. (IMO.)
Check the box before you leave the store- it's supposed to have the little button in there too.

i have the presto 23 quart and it works just fine.  the rubber gasket has lasted me five+ years now.  every time i clean it, i take the gasket out and wipe it down with a paper towel with veg. oil on it.  i also wipe down the inside rim of the lid and the top of the pot.  besides, the gaskets are easy to find and cost about ten bucks.  i'd say save yourself the cash and get the presto.  you can go through lots of gaskets before you'd be at the price of the AA.  the AA is a more 'top of the line' PC, but like i said, the presto works just fine.

Thank you to everyone who took the time out of their day to provide me with exactly the information I was looking for.

I will be heading out later in the day to pick up the Presto.  Thanks for the heads up Doc_T, will certainly double check before leaving the store.

Thanks Again

EDIT: typo
