After birth, dunk and roll. Between flushes, just dunk.
But you don't need to worry about that just yet.

Some people do, some don't. Personally I find that a lot of the verm has fallen off by the time the cakes finish their dunk, so I roll again when they need it, and this has served me well. Ultimately it's up to you

I lose a lot of verm off the cakes, I keep trying to come up with ways to prevent it. Re-rolling only helps if the myc is going to colonize into the fresh verm and hold it in place, which it won't.
One thing I've done is to put a bit of verm in the bottom of the jar. The mycelium grows into it and locks it in place. I have thought about ways to put verm around the inside of a jar for the same reason. Seems like you could mist the jar, put in verm and shake it, then fill carefully with BRF. I dunno, maybe I'll try it.

Well, I want it to be easy. I'm not into doing too much work myself. But cakes are amazingly efficient producers- tweaking the procedure can have dramatic payoffs, if you do it right.

birth and dunk a half pint cake like normal then line a pint jar with some verm mist it and put in the cake.then add some more verm and mist till its how wet you want it.then close the jar back up and let it take to the verm for a day or 2 then birth it letting any loose verm that falls of do so and then into the fc.
i would try this but dont have any pint jars and wont buy a case just to try it but sounds like a good idea.
