Most of the work was done by contractors (I was general - ) but here's some shots of the projects I did in my new home - Obviously I'm more of a wiring/electrical guy than a carpenter, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if there's someone with a clue telling me what to do.
Electrical - Doing the Panel work
Cable/Network mainline
Rack in the basement (don't judge, it's a work in progress)
My wife and I spent 3 weeks hand dipping every single shingle on this house before they went up:
Hope you like.

You ended up with a pretty steep yard there.
How much property with it? It looks like it is in an area with no other houses.

It's 1 acre. We're on 1 corner of the lot with it sloping down and away in both directions from us. It's less than ideal if you're looking for usable grass areas. We're planning on some terracing, but haven't really gotten that far yet on the plans.
There are homes around, but we do have some space. The closest one by far is unfortunately an old run-down rental with a pretty high turn-over rate. But overall I really like most of my neighbors.
Ill post more shots later.. For now I'm gonna go pass out

Ok, here's a rough cronicle from beginning to end:
Diggin in the dirt:
Foundation layout
Basement walls going up:
Drainage plumbing going in:
The obligitory handprints:
Daylight basement before any windows and doors:
Some of the basement framing:
This beam was one of the single most expensive parts of the house, it it allows me to have a large open space without the need for a bunch of support pillars:
The subfloor goes down:
The walls go up:
The roof framing begins:
Framing mostly done:
Dry at last, dry at last, dry at last!
Our daily visitors:
Windows in, exterior starting to look like a house:
Yes, a REAL wood burning fireplace:
Here is the 3 week production line of hand-dipping every single shingle on that house:
Between electrical and low voltage, I have 2+ miles of wire in the house:
The deck and the exterior work. I routed all the light and outlet boxes myself. The router paid for itself in about 6 of them.
Kitchen bump out, and our outside covered patio. Nice lapboard pine ceiling
Entertainment center from the great room. Opposite side is the entertainment center for the master bedroom:
Shingles almost done!
Before and after skylight, speakers, and canned lighting:
Septic drainage field:
Birch floors in, starting the cabinetry in the kitchen (the fuckers scratched the floor moving the cabinets too....)
Starting and finishing the master bathroom:
Some of my handywork:
And the deck:
Hope you like

For a living I do what ever my wife tells me to do
For money, I'm a Network Administrator.
I did all the wiring for the house, electrical, network, audio, cable, phone etc. My wife just yelled at a bunch of other dudes for the rest of it

Pretty impressive. I'm not really a fan of separate tub and shower, but it looks really nice.
Make sure you put those traction stickers in. Slipping in the shower hurts...

1" rough stone tile on the floor has plenty of traction

really? I think if you got the space it is a must. Better resale value as well.

CR Lawrence frameless... those bastards always fucked up the stick stall enclosures I had custom ordered to just install, I had to do fabrication on site... they make a great product, be careful with the edges of the glass, they'll oyster if you're lucky, it'll be all over the floor if you're not, there is no cracking with tempered glass and it is edge sensitive
if you do get an oyster, hit it with a little extra fine sand paper until you're ready to replace the glass

So far so good, but it's only been in for about 6 months. It's hella nice though taking a shower in a completely enclosed box.

I'm interested to know how the birch flooring is working out. Engineered Pre-finished or strip? And what was the cost comparison to oak?

Little more expensive than oak. Not sure what you mean by strip, but it wasn't engineered. Full birch all the way through.
It's holding up as well as expected. Which means there's scratches from my 80 and 60 pound dogs all over the place. We just consider it "character"
