i'm a newbie, but trust me on this, me meant wet. one cake can product anywhere up to 4 decent size serving, about 3 grams dried each. multiply this by 4, 12 grams, times 10 with the water, 120 is about equal to 3.75 oz, a little less, but since i rounded everything else, who cares. (i think its like around 32 grams to an oz. not exactly, but close enough)

what size jar? what mushroom species? what kind of substrate? what method of cultivation? and how sterile is your environment? all of these factors play into over all yeilds, however 3 wet ounces per jar (pint jar) is a little much to expect. I would say that the average beginer using pf style uncased cakes would average about 45 wet grams over two flushes.

45 wet grams???? Damn, I have heard all kinds of shit. I have heard 4-6 mushrooms total per jar, and now this, the highest 45, I know there are a lot of variables, but the range can't be that big! What's the deal???

something is wrong here, and I must tell you. first of all, you will not get 3 *ounces* from each jar, you are right, shrooms are 90% water (meaning 10 wet grams is only 1 dry gram, people measure in dry grams) I would probably expect 3 to 10 grams per jar (dry, do 30 to 100 wet grams).. clear?

40 grams wet or 4.5 gram dried Psilocybe Cubensis from one quarter-pint jar is a very realistic, allthough rather high amount that you will get if everything went allright.[This message has been edited by Anno (edited April 11, 2000).]

Psilocybe cubensis is ~92% water, so that would be 4.2 grams, if dried completely.------------------ Visit My website! http://titan.spaceports.com/~spore/

Dan, let?s do some math: If your cubensis have 92% water, then they have 8% dry mater, which with 40g wet shrooms sums up to 40g x 0.08 = 3.2 g dried shrooms. My cubensis on average have 89% water, which means they have 11% dry mater. 40 g x 0,11 =4.4 g Because you can?t get shrooms 100% dry, this adds 0.1 g water to 4.5 gram dried shrooms.
