i have 12 jars colinizing with equadors on brf and vermiculite and there seems to be a bit of green on the uncolinized substrait right at the top by the lid on four of them. they are between 80-90% with one that is about 95 percent. the green is not on the mycelium. i am going ot case them on strait verm. are they done for? i can case them tommorow if need be. my uneducated geusse is that maby i could shave off that top inch or the mycelium will beat it. what do you think?

Throw the nasty green jars away....
Its pretty damn hard to get rid of the green nasty....
Besides that why risk contaminating your whole setup as well as your environment with the green..... better be safe then sorry many times over when you try again in the future....
best bet throw em away... amke some new jars and follow a strict regiment of being sterile in the process... Clean everything involved in the setup as well as any area you may use to work on things....
Funny thing I did.. I injected a few jars with straight hydrogen peroxide..... when they started turning green and that shit didnt even kill it.... so I wouldnt spend anymore time wondering what you should do.... Just toss em and start over...
I think any experienced person would nearly say the same.....

I wouldn't recommend it but if you want to try saving them the best bet would be to just cut off the half with the green and just do them as cakes. Definitely don't case them because it takes longer for the green to poke through. If you do cakes and didn't manage to get rid of the green you will know pretty much right away.... in a day or 2.
Also you obviously would want to keep these far away from the ones that are showing no sign of contamination.

HOW RETARDED are you people?????
IF ITS GREEN THROW IT AWAY....
I had a bunch of lasagna trays going... I saw green.. And I tossed em... Lost a bit of $$$ but who cares atleast im not gonna kill myself with contaminated shrooms or worse yet contaminate my area.
yeah sure its a set back but atleast I wont spend the next year trying to get rid of the invisible green..........
Besides sure you may get rid of the green... but remember it was there initially which means the network of good stuff was feeding off of that green monster......... Still a risk when consuming any mushroom... I can see everyones point in trying to save it but why even bother??????? You chance health risks, contaminating your living or growing area , and countless other things...
GET rid of it... as I said any expert on here would say the same... if you scroll up to anno's post you will see that he says the same........ not quite sure why karen gave the flip side of the coin being a responsible moderator......... but hey the flip side is the other side as well. take it from the right and the left and decide what you want to do.... But I suggest you toss em like yesterday
Im quite shocked this discussion is still open...
Its very simple toss em.........

The reason why I gave the flipside is that no ones listens to "Throw them away". They always want to salvage them. As you see this guy didn't listen to Anno or else he would have just tossed them right away. He had already decided that he wasn't going to before he even read my post.
All I tried to do is give him a bit of advice so that he didn't totally screw up. I would always through out contaminated stuff but a large portion of the people here will not. You have to accept that.
