Have done some researching on this... but what's the agreed upon RH% for growing mushrooms?
AND... whats the cutoff for the lowest levels where you can still get good growth? Will 85% work....or is being into the 90's critical?
I'm on day 3 in the FC with fully colonized cakes and nothing yet... just want to be sure I've got the RH% where it needs to be.
Thanks.

About 90% from what I hear. I believe the figure is that fruiting mushrooms, (carpophores), are ~90% water by weight. There is plenty of advice on the forums for the ideal conditions inside a fruiting chamber. Feel free to look around or search.
How have you got your fruiting chamber set up?

the biggest pining trigger is water evaporating off the sub (mist then fan) 85 should be alright 90's is optimal

I had to buy a cheaper digital hygrometer. Actually...seems to be pretty sensitive and working well at high %'s. I'm anywhere between 88% and 91% with that. 72 degrees...
Basically have the setup from mushroomvideos.com 3-4" of perlite with my cakes on foil. Smaller terrarium. Maybe 20" x 12" wide... 16" tall.
I have about a dozen holes in the side right at the bottom of the perlite...but nothing directly underneath. As well as a good amount of holes on all 4 sides and the top.
I mist and fan about every few hours...at least 6 times a day.
Thanks.

Digitals seem to vary in quality- some people get good ones, and you might be one of the lucky ones. If the things does work- don't kill it.

Just an update that my RH is still seems to be staying between 89% - 93%... Day 4 in the FC and from last night until this morning... I believe I have knots or pins starting to form. I think they are looking really good.
First grow... so who knows whats going to happen. :-)
Any change need to be made to the misting at this point?

http:// here is a picture of what i call perfect conditions. you will have to scroll over to see the gauge. But this gauge is the shit. I haven't had any luck with the digital ones. But this dial hygrometer, is very accurate.i like to keep the humidity at 92% and my temps at 76 degrees
