The Brain
Inside of the human brain The mind field distributes The neurons, they contribute But let us not yet deign
That whole of the mind field Distributes across all And all circuits recall That with which thoughts deal
Let me be totally clear: What matters is the whole The cerebrum in its role By a whole field is steered
One could call it holographic The whole contains the parts The parts are state-of-the-art And enfold the holy traffic
We tend to focus on the pieces The centers of process To make ourselves some progress We need holistic increases
The parts, they have no meaning Outside of ‘foresaid whole Beneath all this the soul Observing broadband gleaming

Nuclear Electric
Our energy problems could be solved Tomorrow If only we could accept a few things rationally
Climate change is serious and Real, and its catastrophic effects can be witnessed in our Backyard
This conflagration is, in point of fact, Avoidable if only we could start thinking In terms of real solutions
There is a way to eliminate our carbon Footprint if we could only allow our biases To fade
Fusion technology is at least twenty years Away But there is another emission-free technology we could employ right Now
And that is next-generation nuclear Reactors, which at this point are thoroughly and totally Safe
They provide abundant power safely and Cleanly, with no radioactive waste products And no danger
Next-generation nuclear power is the best Solution; it generates zero carbon footprint, releasing only Steam
If we could create a comprehensive Network of this now safe and clean nuclear energy
The planet could heal itself of global Warming and then we could deal with the real issue: A.I.
All we have to do to reverse climate Change is to stop all carbon emissions, Which in this scenario, is Possible
Then we convert all associated technologies to Electric, and poof! We have performed an environmental Miracle
The bottleneck is that when people hear the word, “Nuclear” They react negatively, fearfully, and sometimes violently And this is a serious problem
We have the means, today, to fix this tremendous Issue: We have only to convince ourselves that it is The way to go

The Apollo Program
The Apollo missions to the Moon Were good for adventure and fun flying In the long run, that’s about all Which is a prime reason for its dying
The whole nationwide spectacle Of industry and billions Required just the right world politics It was, though, enthralling to millions
But this political alignment Was fragile, and it has dissolved That’s why we haven’t been back It seems, though, there’s a new resolve
The contributions to science Of these missions aren’t too grand We learned a bit of Earth and Moon Some geology, it was rather bland
Indeed, though, it brought forth technologies Still in wide use today Spurred on digital electronics And computing, Huzzah! Hooray!
Our knowledge was not revolutionized And that place is a desolate Hell Misplaced nerdy notions of longing Make the enterprise seem so darn swell
In the end, it was a neat experiment But there’s not much reason to go A few astronauts were illumined But most didn’t see much to know

I really don't miss dogs or cats as pets They miss you when you are gone.
Masterpiece. Yeah, I could add so much to it but just getting the fuck out of debt and not a good time of what one wants and what one needs
When one was full of greed.
One fucking month and am out of debt, worth it, then think about getting a pet. There, that is some damn good poetry.

Native Moon
Native peoples are specially attuned To the ecological shades made by the Moon What we cannot feel, to them is so real I hope compassion grows soon
At each individual lunar phase The Earth reflects differently her rays The behaviors one sees, on nocturnal lees Vary along with the days
People today have no sensitivity For any knowledge of such serenity They’re oblivious really, sympathetic ideally All the same, it’s paralyzed inactivity
Voluminous libraries of knowing Are gone if they are not going What remains in their place? Where has gone all the grace? Still, I think Earth soul is flowing

Responsibility
The question of what responsibility means Is ages old, and unresolved it seems In the East, it appears, one doesn’t believe A person’s to blame when it’s time to grieve In the West it seems everybody leans Toward fault, and to prison one takes his leave
It occurs to me there are two forms of fault The first is objective, misalign starry vault Something is physically or neurally wrong A structural or pathological flaw comes along So even if a person can be judged worth his salt His freedom can be stripped for a song
So, to my way of thinking, this does affirm The notion of responsibility, which we needn’t unlearn But along with this more objective side of things There’s a subjective component that rather brings Out the main difficulty, which in the soul burns Are we pulled by puppet-strings?
Does a person really intend, or in any way choose From the self, from the soul, to freedom lose? Is there more than material wrongdoing here? When we think of crime what is it we fear? To what extent can we excuse The human propensity to ourselves wrongly steer?

Earth’s Fate
Sometimes I do wish Things had gone differently For our species
By now, it seems we Are not a particularly elegant Adaptation, in terms of evolutionary theory
That is, we are destroying Our habitat
But the fact is Homo sapiens, and its predecessors Lived properly and well For hundreds of thousands Really millions of years
Just as one must say that A man who died at 104 Had a pretty good run, So we may say that Man’s living in his evolutionary setting
Was a pretty nice slice of time
And now, Nature is taking A different tack With Earth
What it will lead to, who knows But if there is no major punctuated cataclysm Earth’s new phase might be a fruitful one
My heart goes out to the suffering and dying But, oh boy, is it an interesting time in Earth’s history I hope we are not merely circling the drain

Sixties Visions
It was not totally unreasonable For 60s visionaries To declare outer space to be our destiny Early missionaries
Man’s destiny, indeed Was reckoned physically to explore Not to pursue this goal Was mockingly deplored
At the time, one might now say This was the most reasonable goal Based on what then was apparent Man must push off from the shoal
Now, fifty years later We can see indeed quite plainly That while logical and even sensible These visions were held quite vainly
This outlook made good sense But we know it was in error Now we see, not the Enterprise But that A.I. shall have Terra

“Cause and Effect”
Emerson once said that shallow men Believe in luck or circumstance While strong men believe in “cause and effect” For them, naught happens by chance
Me, I believe there’s plenty of luck Many are monumentally lucky Look at Washington, or Napoleon, or Caesar They were not just simply plucky
If these men had not had the benefit of luck We’d simply be talking about others Some humans must enter history as miracles By the law of averages, but what mothers!
These special ones benefitted not as much (And here is the principal insight) From destiny, as from fortune and timing Destiny happens in hindsight

The Bardos
Of course, in the end we expire But the point at which we retire Is fraught with consequent fates Coming back, or pearly gates?
One might be destined for reincarnation In which case he does not stop at the station Or higher into the spheres The soul’s rich history coheres
Exempt or not from samsara Rub elbows with Avalokitesvara To go back down into the stew? What sort of a being are you?

People and Places Shine
Just as skeletons are draped in flesh So certain places hide their truth Some rare souls find that they mesh With netherworlds providing proof
Some rare souls above reproof With people and places shine ‘Twere not for mine and thine Take care nay be aloof
And with this shining comes the sign That naught is what it seems And naught is guaranteed benign And forget all pleasant dreams
Along with grace the horror deems That the real breaks in twain And the half that breaks brutal is pain Along with grace the horror teems
Those who shine hardly ever feign They are victims of their light The question is: to which domain Do they go: evil or right?
I hope these souls reject the night And harmonize with all forces Stay true to holy sources I hope I can say they’re all right
But places go round different courses And the Devil has tacit approval Indeed, it’s so that God endorses The most corrupt soul removal
This is the great horror, it’s crucial To understand the point: Sometimes the gods excuse evil When people disappoint

Model Agnostic
Wilson’s genius took the approach That “is”-ness business invites reproach
He pointed out also that concepts are models The curtain of “certain” with falseness is mottled
All concepts are metaphor, no belief is real Transacting our acting is part of the deal
‘Reality tunnel’s the best game in town Let's not trust the thrust of our gaudiest nouns
The Model Agnostic’s the one who’s most sane The trying replying causes one to deign
The only retort I’d provide for old souls Is systems, nay dis them, they have certain roles
The key is that they cannot be arbitrary Un-caustic to agnostics, but truth does not vary
Our models, while fluid, are based on some truth To see, and to be too agnostic’s uncouth
But the approach is a sound one, that I don’t doubt Teasing out, sound throughout, is what it’s all about

Socratic Ontology
Among other ideas Socrates was interested In how human ontology Unfolds across life
He believed That we are born With all the knowledge We will ever have or need
And that over the course Of our lives Knowledge is unlocked and unfolds Revealing to us what was inside all the time
In other words, as we age We increasingly discover What we already really know But didn’t know we knew
So as we get older We don’t gain new information So much as our perspective widens And we see the truth in new lights
As I get older All this makes more and more sense As life unfolds The focus sharpens

Delusion or Illusion?
There seem to be two schools of thought One says there’s everything, one says there’s naught One says that we can say there is reality The other says realism is quaint banality The former believes not all is appearance The latter’s in extreme agnostic adherence
Some hold that existence is all observation And aver Copenhagen with no reservation All we can know is what is instrumental There is no such thing as a real fundamental When we are not looking, the world can’t exist Human consciousness creates, now please desist
Some have come a long way since this bad philosophy It’s really some kind of peculiar atrocity It all comes down to whether you see delusion Or whether, more lightly, it’s all just illusion Are our perceptions filled with nothing at all? Or do we confuse Nature with a skewed view of the small?
Perhaps there is a way out of this mess Where measurement problems can no longer stress And there is no boundary between macro and quantum Of course, theories like this, we’d first have to want them As beings we see Nature, it’s part of the deal So perhaps, just perhaps, existence is real?

I took 2 and a half pills With an air of Cause for concern. This (My) "Morning" God (muddled by creative spirit sense identity) The unhinged, that is, spoke through me: "You're right on the edge" I know That I need this clarity in depression & consequence of inaction To remind me That it is real. "If I go back out I will die here." Sunshine feels like blissful ignorance & demons finally taken ahold Whiteless eyes of hungry abyss That hold no mercy.

The Thing-in-Itself
In the vastest portion of time An object in our field of vision Perceptually a focus of fission Convicts us of a crime
Contrary, though, to consensus It is a viable undertaking Full disclosure not forsaking The method to defense us
The “thing-in-itself,” indeed Is a special identity In a higher zone’s serenity Perception can be freed
When subject and object become one (And this is no trivial thing) The universe begins to sing And the splinters come undone
The Emperor urged us to see The weaving of the contexture And every transcendent conjecture Navigates us through the high sea

Some Say the Truth Doesn’t Exist
If there were no such thing as truth Nothing we said could have any meaning Whether you assert it, or deny it If it didn’t exist you couldn’t do either
The postmodern notion is that truth doesn’t exist And Logical Positivism, Copenhagen, whatever Wouldn’t such statements have to be true If they were to carry any relevance?
And if they can’t be truth, they can’t be true We are either simpering and muttering incoherently here Or there are knowable truths toward which we are pointing Language is not a meaningless superfluity

The End of Metabolism
In a universe that remembers everything Death can have no special meaning Everything continues, all is conserved To call it the end’s overweening
All death represents is the end of metabolism Nature’s a spendthrift, biology dies It could not be otherwise in any ecology Oblivion thus is all lies
In Nature nothing is ever destroyed It’s all just changes of form In this sense physics is a kind of theology But terrible fear is the norm
No, death is not what for us should have relevance The word only means ex-metabolic What ought concern us is the end of suffering Our deeds deserve only the vitriolic
